Lab Director & Principal Investigator
Kelseanna Hollis-Hansen, PhD, MPH

Kelseanna enjoys innovative study designs, running, HIIT, yoga, reading good literature and raunchy novels, laughing with loved ones, the Buffalo Bills, and trying new things.
Favorite food: Everything, but if she has to pick it would be something Ethiopian or Thai with a lot of veggies and flavor or a pecan praline sundae.

Program Coordinator
Carolyn Haskins, MS
Carolyn’s role perfectly blends her work experience at the Texas DSHS, two degrees in nutrition, and her passion for food and wellness. Carolyn enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, group fitness classes, and trying new restaurants. As team PC, Carolyn oversees projects by communicating with community partners and participants, from recruitment to completion. She keeps track of all moving parts, including data collection, inventory management, and helping the team stay organized.
Favorite food: Sushi!

Sr. Research Assistant
Jessica Turcios, MPH
Jessica is a Senior Research Assistant and she supports the study team by recruiting participants, collecting data, and preparing data reports. She graduated from the University of Houston with her undergraduate degree in health education and promotion and received her master's in public health from Texas Woman’s University in 2024. In her free time she enjoys listening to music, being outside, and hanging out with friends and family.
Favorite food: Pupusas with curtido.

Graduate Research Assistant
Zoe Osei-Appiah
Zoe is a graduate student with great interest in public health, health services, medicine, and health equity. As a research assistant, she has created study recipe graphics, and helps community members at appointments to ensure they leave with their preferred market items and resources.
Favorite food: Shrimp alfredo!

Sr. Administrative Professional
Emily Baudot
Emily is a career administrative professional who was delighted to find a home supporting public health initiatives. When she's not supporting research professionals, she loves performing live theater, watching terrible movies, and snuggling with her cat. As an administrative professional, Emily acquires research supplies big and small, facilitates travel for lab personnel, and gives scientists the tools they need to do their thing.
Favorite food: Calamari, anything with noodles, and oven roasted asparagus.

Research Intern
Patricia Nava
Patricia is currently a full-time student at Dallas College pursuing a second career as a registered dietitian. She enjoys running at White Rock Lake on the weekends with her dog, Pepper, and watching TCU football with her family.
Patricia is currently supporting participants in our partner's free community food market co-located at RedBird mall.
Favorite food: Sushi

Student Research Assistant
Ariana Khan
Ariana is a fourth-year undergrad at UT Austin pursuing a degree in Public Health with minors in Social Inequality, Policy, and Health and Data Science. She enjoys running, live music, and bad reality TV.
She has supported various projects over the past 2 years and is currently assisting with a systematic review on the impact of federal COVID-19 policy changes on SNAP and WIC access, enrollment, retention, and benefit utilization.
Favorite food: Any Thai food or a good everything bagel!

Student Research Assistant
Meghana Pitta
Meghana is a second-year undergraduate student at UCLA pursuing a degree in psychobiology with a global health minor.
She is working with the NICHE lab while home for the summer by supporting pantry clients in receiving their medically tailored groceries as part of the AHA study.
Favorite food: Acai bowls

Graduate Research Assistant
Angelina Johnson
Angelina is pursuing an MPH in Health Promotion and Health Education at UTHealth. She is working in the NICHE lab at Crossroads Community Services' Redbird location supporting community members during their market appointments. She is also leading the Southern sector food environment photovoice project as a part of her UTH practicum. In her free time, she enjoys baking.
Favorite food: Chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream!
